bio

Attorney/entrepreneur Brianna T. Scott of Muskegon, Michigan received her bachelor’s from Michigan State University (Eli Broad College of Business) and her Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School. After graduating from law school, she was hired as the first African American assistant prosecutor in the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s office, and in 2005 opened her law firm, Brianna T. Scott & Associates, PLLC, in Muskegon, Michigan.  Scott remains dually licensed to practice law in Michigan and New York.

Brianna Scott was elected in November 2018 to an eight-year term to the Michigan State University Board of Trustees, where she currently serves as Chair. Her focus has been Integrity, Transparency, Equity and Accountability. She has been a fearless advocate on behalf of the State of Michigan for the Spartan community, students, and taxpayers.  Scott’s tenure has been defined by a commitment to serve as a steward of public trust by ensuring that the University serves in their best interests. Within that scope, demanding absolute accountability from the administration is the oversight responsibility that she takes most seriously. In this role she works to rectify historical oversights; ensure student access, success and well-being; and retain top talent in the classrooms, administration, services, and support staff. As she seeks re-election, her platform remains rooted in the values of inclusion, progress and integrity.
